Complete home appliances are accepted at the waste station at no charge – the most commonly missed way to save money. But only if the appliance is intact and complete. Here is what matters, what to do before handing it over, and where it is taken without a fee.
Short answer. A fridge, washing machine, cooker, dishwasher, TV, computer – all of these are accepted at the waste station as electronic waste at no charge. You pay only for the removal. The exception: a dismantled or incomplete fridge costs 15.50 € each, because the refrigerant is missing.
What costs nothing and what does not
| Appliance | Waste station fee | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Fridge, freezer | no charge | complete, compressor and pipework still in place |
| Incomplete fridge | 15.50 € each | compressor or pipes removed |
| Washing machine, dishwasher | no charge | intact casing |
| Cooker, oven, extractor hood | no charge | – |
| TV, monitor | no charge | screen intact or broken, both are accepted |
| Computer, printer, small appliances | no charge | – |
| Water heater, radiator, metal bath | no charge | goes as metal |
| Kitchen units with appliances | 31 €/m³ for the furniture part | appliances separately, no charge |
Free acceptance applies at Tallinn waste stations. The fee for an incomplete fridge exists because handling refrigerant is a separate hazardous waste job.
What to do before we arrive
-
Fridge: empty and defrost it
At least a day in advance. A defrosting fridge leaks water into the stairwell and the van. Leave the door ajar so the smell goes.
-
Washing machine: drain the water
Open the bottom filter into a bowl. There are always a couple of litres inside. For transport, secure the drum if you still have the shipping bolts.
-
Disconnect everything
Water off, hose off, plug out of the socket. With a gas cooker the gas must be turned off and the appliance disconnected – we do not do gas work.
-
Wipe your data
Take the hard drive and memory cards out of computers and TVs. We do not erase data and we do not keep the devices.
What people often overlook
A washing machine weighs 70–90 kg and fits easily in the van, but getting it down the stairs is lifting work. From 80 kg it counts as heavy lifting and is agreed separately.
When you buy a new appliance the shop is obliged to take back an equivalent old one without charge. Ask about it – if the delivery and the collection coincide, you do not need to book us at all.
A working washing machine or fridge goes within a day or two if listed at 0 €. It is worth thinking that option through before disposal.
A fridge is tall and rigid. If there is a tight turn in the corridor, tell us in advance – if necessary we come as three or take the doors off.
Example: clearing a kitchen, 2nd floor without a lift
The same job with everything going as mixed waste – which the waste station will not accept – would be considerably more expensive. That is why we sort the load on site.
What we do not transport
- Hazardous liquids and gases: oil, solvents, paints, gas bottles, batteries as a separate load.
- Gas appliances that are still connected – the gas must be off and the appliance disconnected before we arrive.
- Appliances containing asbestos, and asbestos cement sheeting, without prior arrangement – that requires separate handling.
- Mixed municipal waste and food waste – these do not belong at the waste station and go in the building’s bin.

Frequently asked questions
Does fridge removal cost anything?
Acceptance at the waste station is free of charge if the fridge is complete. The removal itself – labour and transport – is chargeable and starts at 84 € with a van and two workers.
Will you disconnect the washing machine?
A simple water connection we will undo. If a plumber is needed or a wall has to be opened, that we do not do.
What happens to the appliances afterwards?
We hand them over at the waste station as electronic waste, where they go for recycling. On request we give you the receipt.
Will you take just one appliance?
Yes. The minimum order is one hour. If there is anything else in the building to go, it usually fits into the same hour and the same load.
Do you issue invoices to companies?
Yes. We send an invoice for bank transfer and the waste station receipt. We work under waste permit L.JÄ/333085, which matters for environmental reporting.
Can you take away a gas cooker?
Yes, but the gas must be turned off and the cooker disconnected from the gas supply. We do not carry out gas work ourselves.
