Construction waste: skip or removal by van

Vanad uksed ja mööbliosad äraveoks
Guide 2026 · Tallinn and Harju County

The renovation is finished and the flat holds ten bags of rubble, an old bathtub and a pile of tiles. Two options: order a skip into the yard, or have the waste taken away by van. Here is an honest comparison – and which one suits when.

Short answer. A skip suits a long building project where waste piles up over weeks and there is room in the yard. For a one-off batch of renovation waste, removal by van is faster and cheaper – no parking permit, no skip standing in the yard, and you pay only for the actual amount. We work with vans; we do not rent out skips.

Skip or removal by van

What matters Skip Removal by van
How long it stands in the yard days or weeks a couple of hours
Parking space and permit has to be arranged not needed
Who loads it you do our crew
Carried out of the flat no yes, from any floor
What you pay for the skip’s volume, even half-empty the actual time and volume
Risk of strangers dumping their waste in it yes no
When it makes sense long build, large house, own yard flat renovation, a one-off amount

We do not rent out skips. We take the waste away by van straight away – that is our work, and we will not try to sell you something we do not do.

Four situations where a skip is not worth ordering

FLAT RENOVATION

Stripping out a bathroom or kitchen produces 5–15 m³. That fits into one or two loads and is gone the same day. A skip would stand in the yard for a week.

AN APARTMENT BUILDING WITH NO YARD

In the city centre and in Kalamaja there is nowhere to put a skip. Placing one on the street needs the city’s approval, and that takes time.

THE WASTE IS ALREADY BAGGED

If everything is packed and waiting in the hallway, all you need is someone to carry it down and take it away. A skip adds nothing here.

YOU NEED IT DONE FAST

Delivering and collecting a skip means two separate trips and two time slots. We come once and take everything in one go.

What construction waste removal costs

Labour is 48 € per hour per worker – two workers make 96 € per hour. The waste station fee for construction waste is 41.30 €/m³.

Example. Waste from stripping out an old bathroom, 4th floor, no lift.

Working time 6 h × 96 €576 €
Construction waste 10–15 m³ × 41.30 €413–620 €
Approximate totalapprox. 989–1,196 €

Concrete, bricks and ceramics kept separately are cheaper – 31 €/m³. Mixed waste all falls under the higher rate.

How to pay less for construction waste

  • Keep concrete and tiles separate. Sorted, it is 31 €/m³ instead of 41.30 €/m³.
  • Metal on its own. Old pipes, radiators and profiles are accepted at the waste station at no charge.
  • Pack it tightly. Loose plasterboard takes up three times more room than broken up and bagged.
  • Do not mix household rubbish in. The waste station does not accept mixed municipal waste, and the whole load then falls under the more expensive rate.
  • Asbestos sheeting separately. Asbestos cement sheeting is hazardous waste, 62 €/m³, and it is accepted only at the Rahumäe station.

What must not go with construction waste

  • Paints, varnishes, solvents and leftover adhesives
  • Oils and chemicals
  • Gas cylinders and pressure vessels
  • Mixed municipal waste – the station will not take it

These have to be picked out beforehand. A Tallinn resident can take hazardous waste to a collection point at no charge.

Frequently asked questions

Do you rent out skips?

No. We take the waste away by van and hand it over at the waste station. If you have a long building project and a skip makes more sense, we recommend ordering one from a company that provides skips.

Do you carry the waste out of the flat yourselves?

Yes, from any floor. That is the main difference from a skip – with a skip you have to lug everything down yourself.

Does the waste have to be bagged?

It does not have to be, but bagged it goes faster and therefore cheaper. Heavy material such as tiles and concrete should go into strong sacks, not bin bags.

How much is 10 m³?

About a hundred large rubbish bags, or everything from a full bathroom strip-out including tiles, bathtub and pipes.

Can I have an invoice for a company?

Yes. Companies pay by bank transfer; please send the billing details before the work. On request we also provide the waste station receipt.
