Sofa removal in Tallinn: prices and tips

Guide 2026

A sofa is the most awkward thing to get out of a flat. It is heavy, it does not bend, it does not fit in the lift, and in the stairwell it has to be turned upright. Here is how it actually works, what it costs and what to do before we arrive.

Short answer. Sofa removal starts at 84 € (van, two workers, one hour) plus the waste station fee: a three-seater is about 2.5–3 m³, which through us comes to 78–93 € (company rate 31 €/m³); taking it yourself it would cost 26–31 €. A corner sofa fits in the van only when taken apart – otherwise the large box van is needed.

What a sofa really weighs and how much space it takes

Item Weight Volume Fee if you take it yourself
Armchair 15–30 kg approx. 1 m³ approx. 10 €
Two-seater sofa 40–60 kg approx. 2 m³ approx. 21 €
Three-seater sofa 60–90 kg approx. 2.5–3 m³ 26–31 €
Sofa bed with a metal frame 80–120 kg approx. 3 m³ approx. 31 €
Corner sofa 90–150 kg 4–6 m³ 41–62 €
Mattress 160 × 200 25–45 kg approx. 1.5 m³ approx. 15 €

The fees in the table apply to a Tallinn resident taking the item themselves: 10.30 €/m³. If we do the transport, the station applies the company rate of 31 €/m³ and it appears as a separate line on the invoice. Items over 80 kg fall under heavy lifting, which is agreed separately.

Three things that affect the price most

DOES THE SOFA FIT IN THE LIFT

A standard apartment lift is about 1.0 × 1.3 m. A three-seater rarely fits in it even turned upright. If it does not, the crew carries it down the stairs – every floor adds time.

ARE THE DOORWAYS WIDE ENOUGH

Measure the clear door width. Through a doorway under 80 cm the sofa usually has to come apart – legs off, backrest off, upholstery opened. We do that on site.

HOW MANY ITEMS AT ONCE

One sofa and a whole room of furniture cost almost the same if they fit into one load and one hour. Have a look at what else could go at the same time.

TIME OF DAY

On weekdays until 18:00 the standard rate applies. After 18:00 there is a 15% surcharge, and at weekends a higher hourly rate applies.

Before we arrive

  1. Empty the storage box

There is usually bedding under a sofa bed. It doubles the weight and none of it belongs at the waste station.

  2. Measure the doorways

The flat door, the stairwell door and the lift. Three numbers – they tell us whether to bring tools.

  3. Send a photo

One photo of the sofa and one of the stairwell say more than a long description. We send back an exact price.

  4. Clear the route

Shoes and rugs out of the hallway. The yard – if a vehicle can get right up to the door, tell us where that spot is.

Example: a three-seater sofa and an armchair, 4th floor with a lift

Van 14 m³, 2 workers, 1.5 h × 84 €/h126 €
Waste station fee 4 m³ × 31 €124 €
Approximate totalapprox. 250 €

From a 4th floor without a lift the same job would take about 2.5 hours. That is why we ask about the floor and the lift before giving a quote.

Can you give a sofa away instead?

  • An intact, clean sofa goes faster than you would expect when listed at 0 € – put up 3–4 photos and the dimensions.
  • Reuse centres accept upholstered furniture selectively and only when it is clean. Ask first; the drive is not worth it otherwise.
  • Torn upholstery, collapsed springs, pet smell or damp damage – nobody will take a sofa like that, and the waste station is the only right place for it.
  • A sofa must not be left beside the bin shed or in a cellar corridor. That is illegal dumping, and the fine goes to the building, not to the waste hauler.

Frequently asked questions

Do you collect a sofa on the same day?

Often yes, if there is a free slot in the schedule. Call us – on the phone we can tell you straight away what is still possible today.

Do you take the sofa apart yourselves?

If it will not come through the door otherwise, yes, and that is included in the price. If more extensive dismantling is needed, we tell you in advance.

What should I do with a mattress?

A mattress is bulky waste too and goes in the same load. Wrap a damp mattress, or one you suspect of bed bugs, in plastic – that way nothing is left behind in the stairwell.

Does a corner sofa fit in your van?

Taken apart, it fits in the van. A corner sofa left whole needs the large box van. Give us the dimensions and we will pick the right vehicle.

Do you bring the new sofa in as well?

Yes. Many people order both at once: the old one out, the new one in. Done in one trip it is cheaper than two separate jobs.

Can the work be paid by bank transfer?

Yes, for private customers and companies alike. We issue an invoice and, on request, the waste station receipt. We work under waste permit L.JÄ/333085.
